Pessimism: Boy commits suicide, girl survives

An 18-year-old boy committed suicide, while a 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after a suicide attempt.

FAISALABAD: An 18-year-old boy committed suicide, while a 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after a suicide attempt on Sunday.  Police said Shakir, a resident of Chiniot, swallowed poisonous pills. He was taken to Allied Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The reason behind the suicide is still unknown. Separately, Sidra, a resident of Pindi Bhattian, was taken to Allied Hospital after she was found lying unconscious in her room. Doctors treating her said that she had swallowed poisonous tablets. Her stomach was washed and she was later reported to be out of danger. Her parents said that they did not have any idea why Sidra had committed suicide.
