Malala’s father to work in Birmingham: Reports
Peace icon Malala Yousufzai’s father is to work in Birmingham while his daughter receives treatment in the city, the BBC reported.
Ziauddin Yousafzai will work at the Pakistan consulate as his daughter who is currently at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital undergoes lengthy treatment.
He is expected to take up a 12-month post as an administrator at the Pakistan Consulate in Birmingham.
According to the news report, Pakistan High Commission spokesperson said: “The government of Pakistan is responsible for the welfare of Malala and her family while they are in the UK.
“In view of the expected prolonged treatment of Malala in the UK, the government of Pakistan is thinking about various options to properly look after the family,” the spokesperson added.
According to UK’s Daily Mail, Birmingham Labour MP Khalid Mahmood welcomed the move, saying Malala’s family will be surrounded by well-wishers in Birmingham.
Earlier reports quoted the 15-year-old activist’s father dispelling rumours that his family would seek asylum abroad. He vowed that his daughter would return to Pakistan after her medical treatment was over.
Despite a bullet grazing her brain, doctors have said that Malala could make good recovery; however, will undergo long treatment.
Malala earned international fame for raising a voice against Taliban oppression in Swat. She was shot in the head, while two other girls sustained injuries, when the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) opened fire on their school van in Swat valley on October 9.

Malala now has no right to be in the UK, far less her family. They should be deported back to Pakistan along with her "brothers", "sisters", "aunties", "uncles", "cousins" and whatever other made up relatives they have here
What bullet was Malala shot with. I also want to be shot by that bullet after writing a few blogs. Such an easy path to fame, money and glory. I might even get a nobel prize, you know!
Malala story was just a drama staged by Pak&US authorities for bigger gains. No bullet was received by Malala. The girl and the family is used by US and they are happy on it for money-making sake. All the Media houses are also accomplice on the issue, promoting Malala unjustly.
Why cant we understand that the whole story was fake. this is all a game by america and nothing else. Daily 100 people die in Pakistan no one care for them.

Most of these JAHILLAN come from Afghanistan, we should BUILD A LARGE Fence between Pakistan and Afghanistan, place mines and monitor any movement through controlled checkpoints.
The PPP govt and our opposition in Parliament are clueless. They need to realize the problem is all from Afghanistan, and until that area is not secured Pakistan will not be secure.
Why the military does not take action against Taliban whether in Pakistan, Tribal areas or Afghanistan, I dont know.
Look at Turkey, it invades Iraq whenever the PKK becomes a nuisance, why is Pakistan so polite? They are destroying our nation, yet we even refuse to deport the millions of illegal Afghans, our borders are open for any Afghan to just walk in., This is the height of stupidity,
@Hellfire: "Send the Taliban to Hellfire" I can understand your attitude towards the Taliban, and I am very glad they don't get near my daughters, but how is the Taliban problem going to be solved? Whichever way things go I think Pakistan/Afghanistan will experience a rough time for many years to come. Perhaps the problem cannot be solved, but a start has to be made sometime.
@JOHN: John, do you always run when you face danger? Malala did not, she is brave and focused. If you encourage a brave person to forget what she has struggled for you are asking her to be a sheep, part of a flock and all you are just showing that Malala's struggle has not changed or touched you. Maybe you and I are cowards but we should be inspired by her courage and struggle. People like Malala make history the cowards of this world do not. This is the inspiration of our Prophets, our liberators and our hero(ine)s. Ask Malala to come back and tell her that you will stand between her and the powers of ignorance and violence and give your life for what is right!!

I hope they get to stay there. I'm so scared about her what would happen to her if she returned to Pakistan. You have the Taliban threatening to attack her again and nutjob extreamists sociopaths from the UK going over to slander this beautiful girl. These terrorists are bombing ever corner of Pakistan, there is no where she can go that is safe.

If her father is so brave, then why not show some courage and go back to Pakistan. To me it looks like her father is only after fame, glory and money and using his daughter as a cach cow.

I seem to recall that during WW1 the British Government indignantly stated that they would not have talks with Germany, because this would give some type of dignity to the German Government. As a result British soldiers were killed at the rate of 1,000 per day for a period of 4 years, and German soldiers lost their lives at a similar rate. I seem to note that the same thing is happening in Pakistan with the Taliban and other militants. Instead of having a holier than thou attitude why not start discussions going. I do not agree with many of the questionable Taliban ideas, but we certainly cannot hope to moderate them until discussions take place.
So no merit for hiring an administrator? & wasn't he working for some NGO when he pushed Malala into media limelight during the days of Sawat operation? what about the meetings he used to attend with Hollebrooke? anyway good luck to them they wont be returning back for few years. @aisah azeeem: her class fellows were injured too & they're not safe as well but guess what? they are going to school again :) nor I'm safe from suicide bombings but guess again? I'm still in Pakistan :)

My cousin Anwar Khan is also not safe in Pakistan. He works at a police check-post in Peshawar, attacked twice by terrorists. How about a British citizenship for him as well..............
Though Malala's voice for education is appreciated by all, I have never seen 1/1000th of a media coverage for the any drone strike civilian victims (not terrorists), ordinary soldiers killed on borders & policemen killed by terrorists. Malala's word for education appreciated but its how Govt, Media, NGOs behave which makes the Malala issue so apparantly controversial and fishy with dual standards. Otherwise, thousands of soldiers injured more severely are treated by the routine doctors within Pakistani hospitals; they just are not covered under US/UK medical coverage like Malala does.
She should come back after full recovery else it will be a victory for the militants at the end of the day

What is all this whining about Malala not coming back? She has played her part as a citizen of Pakistan. It is not only her responsibility to raise voice against terrorism. I salute her for what she has done and has gone through. If someone has a problem, he should raise his own voice.

I am sure that she will not feel threatened in a foreign country comparing to her own country where she was shot in order to be killed but Al-Mighty Allah saved her life.
