Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan said on Saturday that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was the torch bearer of truth and courage against tyranny, and urged people to follow in his footsteps.
In a statement, the PTI chief paid tribute to the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh) grandson, saying, “As Muslims we pay rich tributes to the sacrifices offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) who was the real liberator of Islam.”
Imran said that Pakistan is at a stage where values such as honesty, tolerance, solidarity and welfare for the poor are challenged, and adopting teachings of Islam could “save us from the prevalent evils in society.”
He said that Karbala changed the direction of Muslim history, adding that Pakistan should take a stand against social ills like corruption, bad governance and cruelty that has caused immense damage.

Mr. Khan, please speak out against the Taliban who are creating tyranny inside the country just like Yazid did back in history, then speak about standing up against evil. Making double standars will not encourage the "change" which you speak of.
Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is the embodiment of faith and truth to be followed in our common lives. Its not enough to mourn the occasion for ten days and later lead our lives at our own.Similarly to arrange any Majlis which is becoming inconvenience for the other Muslim is not allowed.ie.praying on the road and blocking way for the others is not appreciated in Islam. So all processions must remain confined to a premises not becoming any security hazard or public inconvenience.on one side it keeping the processions participants away from the hazarts of security and on other hand making the task of security agencies job easy, and on the third dimension causing no harm to passerby patients or people going to any other emergencies.CAN HAPPEN IF WE PLAY AS GOOD MUSLIMS.
He will lead us to paradise I am sure.
strange he did not made PML N responsible for this
A True Leader ..... Pakistan' last hope ! And please, am making it crystal clear, Hazrat Hussain RA doesnt belongs to Shia sect only, Hazrat Hussain is of all of us....
IK is naive.
@Caramelized_Onion: "The part where he says there is a different law for the powerful and for the weak is absolutely true in Pakistan.." . And he counts himself as?
vote for imran and pti please....last chance!!.....we have to get rid of the devils in ppp and pml and qrs xyz
Happy Birthday to you Imran Bhai...
Happy Birthday Khan. Karbala is a big message for muslim to stand with the down trodden and those who stand for truth. The struggle of good and bad will continue............
not a single word against tailbaan who are proudly taking responsibility for all the attacks. Wake up Imran Khan....people are not that naive.....come out of the garb.......stop supporting Taaliban. You have dug your own grave by committing silli mistakes....the major one of supporting Taalibaan. No future for you in Pakistan politics anymore.
Great statement Imran Khan. Being a Shia, in the current state of the country, I thank you for such a statement. People need awareness that Imam Hussain (AS) does not only belong to the Shias. Imam Hussain (AS) gave us a path to walk on, and that is the path of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). May Allah bless you and may Allah bless Pakistan.
@FJ: Well said FJ, If anyone wants to (even thinking of) follow footsteps of Karbala Martyrs then one must denounce the yazeedis without any ifs and buts.
"adding that Pakistan should take a stand against social ills like corruption, bad governance and cruelty that has caused immense damage." Imran Sahib why not a single word against the killings of Shias? Why are you not directing all members of your party to come forward and guard Shias during Muharram?
Happy birthday! May Allah fulfil all your wishes!
Well said Mohammad , the murderer of Malala is being encouraged by IK and now he is tallking about human values , His duelity is not going to pay him in the next election. He also opposed Obama's candidature but he won with absolute majority . This is a clear indication of his political immaturity . He will be rejected by the people in the next election .
@Muhammad:
It’s deeds which matter, not words. It was Malala who followed in footsteps of Karbala.
And what bad deeds are you accusing Imran of? The World Cup? The cancer hospital? The university? The emphasis on Muslim identity? Paying taxes? Declaring assets? Shutting down the war business? Peace with india? Bringing the fractured Pakistani society together?
@adnan:
by making statements would not motivate the people.the real effort will be seen if he be able to maintain the balance of power to creat equel distribution of wealth,education,and justice.
Agreed. But you should give him a chance by voting for him to allay your skepticism.
Yes, follow the footsteps of Hussain (as) and crush the Yazidi forces in North Waziristan.
It's deeds which matter, not words. It was Malala who followed in footsteps of Karbala.
well said ik btw happy birthday
true IK but
bohat dair say kheyyal aaya doost
He also said the following, which is so true: "Today in our country we are bereft of tolerance, where we do not value human life, followers of a religion which stands for peace and humanity, equality, knowledge, and truth"
Couldn't have agreed more with him. Every watershed event in the history was brought about by sweat and blood of great souls.
great words
