KARACHI:

Pakistan volleyball team will be touring Kuwait for two friendly matches from November 30 as part of its preparation for the South Asian Games, according to the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF).

Pakistan will also host India and Sri Lanka in the Baba Guru Nana Cup in Lahore starting December 20 and the PVF officials hoped the two events will help the team improve their performance and prepare them for the much anticipated regional event early next year.

Pakistan jumped 16 places last year from 53 to 37 in the international rankings thanks to their silver medal at the Al-Rashidiya International Tournament in Dubai and their participation at the Olympics wildcard qualifiers in Bulgaria.

“Our goal is to defend our title at the South Asian Games and these preparatory events will go a long way in helping us with that,” a PVF official told The Express Tribune. “Besides Kuwait, the Baba Guru Nana Cup will also provide an opportunity to see Indian and Sri Lankan teams who will be competing at the Games as well.”
