LONDON: A 16-year-old girl is thought to have become the first person to speak from the House of Commons despatch box in the British parliament while wearing a hijab, The Times newspaper reported Saturday.
Sumaiya Karim a biology, chemistry, history and maths student, was speaking as the Youth Parliament held its annual session in the lower house's chamber, where Britain's MPs gather.
Karim, from Wokingham, west of London, said: "Wearing the hijab was my own choice."
British ministers and opposition shadow ministers stand at the despatch boxes when they address the Commons.
The democratically elected Youth Parliament members, aged 11 to 18, are elected to represent the views of young people in their area to government.

Reading your views is intresting I must say I have nothing hateful to say but I would like to share my opinion in this topic. Westerners are blamed all the time for hating muslims e.c.t e.c.t but in these days can you really blame them as to what is happening in pakistain pakistanis killing hazara People but Pakistanis are Muslim and the hazara community are Muslim. Then you are to say westerners are haters and raciest. Westerners are acceptfull of the future of Multi coultre but it is that massive hand full of ignorant and rude muslims that we pass In the street that look at you like you are scum and to that same subject the ones who demand to be served like kings and queens but not even a thank you is given as gratitude now can you understand why westerners are fustrated This comes from a woman born in the UK and happily married to a lovely hazara man from Pakistan who fled his community after his family was toutured because they was hazard!

Islam is not the religion of terror but is the religion of peace but unfortunately the non-muslims and non-muslim world always see that handful muslims who misuse the teachings of Islam for their negative designs/objectives and don't read the true and exact teachings of Quran and Sunnah and in this regard Western media plays the most important role to defame and deface the Islam and peaceful muslims throughout the world to fulfill its negative objectives and get more and more money.....
