The directions to this effect were given by the water and power secretary in a meeting attended by officials of the ministry and heads of all DISCOs this morning, on the instructions of Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar.
The DISCOs were further directed to minimise load-shedding to the maximum possible level, starting immediately and till the conclusion of Ashura processions. They were also directed to maintain a close liaison with field offices in their respective areas so that any emergency action can be taken without delays.
The meeting also decided to cancel the holidays of all essential staff of the DISCOs so that a sufficient number of personnel are available during the period. The water and power secretary will lead the monitoring of the situation, along with other ministry officials.
The complaint room of the Ministry of Water and Power will remain open around-the-clock to facilitate consumers.
The meeting also reviewed the current power generation and supply situation in the country.
