@Hairan. Just don't be hairaan and shocked on the day of judgement.
Salaam Ya Hussain (a.s.)
@Hairaan: People like you also question why Hussain (a.s.) had to bring out his entire family to eventually get martyred. He could have easily sat back at home and let Yazeed create havoc out of Prophet's religion. This 'azadari', this jaloos is a salute Imam Hussain's sacrifice. If you think that has no significance, so be it. Till the end of this world, azadaari will not stop or end. Bring it on, Yazeeds of the world!
Islamic history is full of sacrifices and martyrdom of pious companions starting from Hazrat Sumayiah (RA) back in Mecca till the great martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (RA). Most of them in the battles. Now just imagine if we were to commemorate each one of them this way then there would be no day in the year free from processions and closures. And believe me this is not what Islam requires to commemorate their sacrifices. The best way is to adopt their way of life and to implement their teachings in to your daily life. Not just for a few days in a year.
@Andamentalist: But do you really need go go out on roads and halt the whole city to remember the Prophet? How do you remember the prophet in the rest of the 11 months? I am sure you can do it in your homes, mosques etc.
@Hairaan: And as per your view 85% dont believe in Prophet? What I heard from Shia people is that they commemorate because the Prophet said Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain. Remembering Hussain and the sacrifice is same as remembering Prophet.
@Hairaan You country is under seige and attack. if a part of your nation is daring this seige mentality, salute it. and i am sure shias have every right to take out their processions allowed under this country' constitution. how much part of your country is at standtill? its a public holiday and also, if there was no terrorism threat, these procession could give immense boot to many many businesses all over pakistan. But that would mean peace and prosperity for common man and thats not what your ruling elite can bear.
@Hairaan: Yeah he taught the men to live free. Thats the reason the government and extremist wishes to hostage the city in name of Hussain. The reason of processions was to make sure the aim of Hussain is known by all. And in the past, even the shops used to be open on the way.
@kashif: I am sure Hazrat Hussain (RA) would have never liked the idea of taking the whole country hostage for commemorating his martyrdom.
May the 8th, 9th and 10th day of Moharram pass peacefully. Ameen.
For me, peace is primary and every thing is secondary.
If peace will prevail in the country, Pakistan will move forward which will be a collective benefit for Pakistan as well as for all Pakistanis.
The message of Hussain (AS) will never be suppressed, no matter how hard they try.
We respect personal believes of people. But then they should carry out demonstrations of their personal believes on their personal premises. Not on public places.
Why 15 people are allowed to disrupt life of 85 people?
Who deserted these streets?
