Quetta plot foiled: FC recovers explosives primed for attack

QUETTA:

Frontier Corps (FC) personnel recovered around 250kg of explosives from a car near the Pak-Afghan border in Killa Abdullah district, Balochistan, Thursday night.

An FC spokesperson told The Express Tribune that upon receiving information from army intelligence, they stopped the car at the district’s Sagi area and discovered the explosives which were intended for terrorist attacks in Quetta.

The spokesperson claimed a suspect was arrested as well.

High-level security meeting

In the wake of recent security threats corresponding with Muharram, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has called upon security and law enforcement forces to adopt a better, fool-proof strategy to combat criminal elements responsible for endangering the lives and property of innocent people.

Addressing a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation, with special reference to security preparations for Ashura, Raisani said certain elements were trying to disrupt peace in Balochistan and directed security forces to take decisive action against those responsible regardless of their influence.

The chief minister announced he would personally monitor all security arrangements and be available constantly to security officials for guidance.

“Terrorists are the number one enemy of Pakistan and its people and the country, and deserve no mercy… There are no two opinions about that,” Raisani told participants of the meeting.

He directed all concerned officials to ensure the supremacy of the law and defend the life and property of innocent citizens.
