The D-8 group consists of eight nations with a combined estimated total population of one billion. The theme of the summit was ‘Democratic partnership for peace and prosperity’. Pakistan remained keen to focus on trade issues and economic cooperation during the Summit, the events in Gaza overshadowed Summit proceedings to a considerable degree, especially since Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Egyptian leader Mohamed Morsi and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan are all key players in the Middle East crisis. Pakistan was also able to bring up the main item on the agenda: increasing trade between member countries from $130 billion to $507 billion by 2018.
As significant as the discussions were, the symbolism involved in the Summit, marked a major triumph for the government. The visit by Goodluck Jonathan was the first by a Nigerian leader in 28 years. To ensure safe movement to their respective destinations, massive security was put in place, creating a traffic logjam for the locals. This, however, is the price we pay for the militancy that lives on in the country — an issue also discussed at the Summit. We must hope the meeting with key leaders can bear fruit as intended by the objectives of the Summit.

@Polpot: come out of your obsession with Pakistan my dear Indian troll :)
@Polpot
The International Terrorists and Gangsters Conference cannot be held in Pakistan as our Indian friends would never allow us to steal the limelight anywhere. Moreover, we do not have diplomatic relations with the star performer Israel. But India can host this befittingly as she enjoys close ideological ties with all such states and the gangsters will feel more at home in India.
D-8 summit was yet an another failure by PPP. Wonder what Bilawal was doing among the elected dignitaries, such a stupid thing to do!!!
Next the International Terrorists and Gangsters Conference in Islamabad ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Global Terror Vision will be drawn up and targets set up.
Next: Summit between presidents of Timbuktu, Tuvalu & Pakistan?
The photo, it seems, doesn't show all that were present like Turkish PM.
Trying to superficially enter the International Limelight via Conferences and Summits will not work. Pakistan will have to address it's internal contradictions first. TTP and assorted groups are merrily going about killing Shias and Iran represent Shia interests in the world. Pakistan doesnot crack down on TTP and also wants to build friendship with Iran - as Americans say - "something's gotta give". Turkish and Egyptian PMs are fighting to control the power of the Army and are winning. But in Pakistan, the Army calls the shots. What is the Pakistan Army decides, it is not a good idea to talk too much of "Democracy" with Egypt and Turkey? Bangladesh is nursing a grievous wound inflicted by Pakistan in 1971. And Malaysia has no taste for the Pakistani-Islamist style of Foreign Policy.
