Targeted: Charsadda DPO narrowly escapes blast

A pro-government tribal elder was gunned down in Miranshah, North Waziristan.

MIRANSHAH/ CHARSADDA:


Charsadda DPO Nisar Marwat narrowly escaped a blast on Tuesday, while his nephew and gunman were injured.


A district police official Rokhan Zeb told The Express Tribune that a remote-controlled bomb attached to a bicycle on Charsadda Motorway link road, detonated near DPO Marwat’s vehicle at 5:45pm.

Marwat told journalists that he survived the attack because he was not in his official vehicle, but in his personal car behind it.

Bomb Disposal Squad Charsadda Circle In-charge Kiramat Khan said that it was a homemade bomb and weighed three kilogrammes.

Tribal elder gunned down

A pro-government tribal elder was gunned down in Miranshah, North Waziristan.

A political administration official said that in the evening tribal elder Malik Noor Din came out of his house for prayers in Danday Darpa Khel area, when unidentified men opened fire at him.  Malik died on his way to hospital.
