Football: Matteo wants Lampard, Cole to stay

Chelsea manager claims ‘he is doing everything he can' to keep them at Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo claims ‘he is doing everything he can to keep Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole at Chelsea, according to ESPN. “They know I’d like them to stay,” Di Matteo told The Sun. “They’re fantastic players who have always performed to a high level for us. I’m doing everything I can to keep them here.  There is always speculation about Frank. There were rumours about him going to the Major League Soccer as well. But I’m not aware of him having any dialogue with anyone. I hope we offer him a new contract. But ultimately that’s between the player and the club to agree. I’m not aware how the discussions are going but if there’s a willingness from both sides, Frank will remain with us. He has been great at Chelsea for over a decade, so it would be nice for him to finish his career here.”
