‘Defamation’: Abraul Haq summoned again

LAHORE: A civil judge on Friday re-issued summon notices for singer Abarul Haq for December 18 in a suit seeking damages of Rs100 million. The suit has been filed by another singer, Jawad Ahmed, who says Haq defamed him on a TV show. The court had summoned Haq for Friday but he did not appear. Ahmed says that Haq had levelled “baseless accusations” against him, saying that he (Ahmed) had spent Rs600 million – that Ahmed had collected in a telethon for Taleem for All Trust – on producing a film.  Ahmed says the film was produced with the help of investors in Pakistan and India, including himself. He says he did not spend any of the trust’s money on the film.
