Ukraine willing to assist Pakistan’s development

Both nations need cooperation, people-to-people contacts to enhance ties.

ISLAMABAD:
Ukraine’s ambassador to Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov said that Ukraine was willing to play an effective role in the developmental progress of Pakistan and will welcome any efforts for cooperation and expanding ties with Islamabad in various sectors.

In his speech at the Ukrainian Pakistani Relations seminar, Lakomov emphasised that a number of Ukrainian companies were interested in building power plants, pipelines, bridges and railways in Pakistan. Hence, bilateral relations in different areas including effective people-to-people contacts can strengthen the two nations.

He said, “Both countries should consider that dynamics of political contacts between our two countries must be more active. Direct contacts will help us to know about the current state of our cooperation as well as find new opportunities for further development of bilateral relations.”

Both countries wished to expand and deepen mutually beneficial relations perspective, therefore there was a need to strengthen political dialogue, boost legal framework, and create business-friendly conditions.

In Lakomov’s opinion, people of Pakistan and Ukraine are close to each other psychologically and termed this as “the main reason that our bilateral relations are based on the traditionally high level of understanding in political, military, trade, economic areas, and effective cooperation within international organisations.”

The envoy said that many Pakistani businessmen were earning money by supplying some of the best rice and mangoes in the world to the Ukrainian market.
