Hoax calls: PTCL cautions customers

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has asked its customers not to entertain and trust any such calls initiated by certain individuals offering a cash prize that either requires them to call back on a particular number or give serial/PIN number of prepaid scratch card in case of Vfone subscribers. “PTCL is not in any way affiliated with any prize draws or offering cash prizes or in any way disclosed its subscribers’ phone numbers to third parties for this purpose,” PTCL announced in a press release. The move came after PTCL noticed that some unknown individuals were making hoax calls to its subscribers, claiming to be representatives of the company and offering huge cash prizes. PTCL advised the customers to always call the company’s call centre at 1236 for information and clarification regarding any inquiries related to prize schemes or otherwise.
