KARACHI: The Additional District and Sessions Judge South, Jango Khan, sentenced a robber to 10 years imprisonment along with Rs50,000 fine. Saiful Khan will have to undergo an additional three months of confinement if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the prosecution, the suspect and his aides stormed into the house of the petitioner, Gulbahar, on February 16, 2008, and held his family hostage. Khan robbed the family of cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees. Later, the police arrested four suspects, Muhammad Naseer, Muhammad Siddiq, Ghulam Haider and Manzoor but one of the suspects managed to escape.

The court had announced 10-year confinement to Naseer and Siddiq after being proven guilty but Haider and Manzoor were released due to lack of evidence. Police arrested Khan on September 28, 2009, and presented him in the court, where the petitioner identified him. The case against the robbers was registered at Boat Basin police station. Meanwhile, judicial magistrate south Sadruddin Bohio sentenced Muhammad Rizwan to six years of imprisonment.
