Affair: 22-year-old man bludgeoned to death

Three suspects, cousins of the girl, have been nominated in the FIR.

A young man was clubbed to death for his alleged affair with a Christian girl in Azizabad, Rawalpindi late on Wednesday night.

Ikramul Haq, 22, received a fatal blow to his head, said a doctor at District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital, where his postmortem was performed.

His father nominated three cousins of the girl for the murder. He told the police that three intruders --- Sarfaraz, Shahbaz and Shamshad --- barged into his house and started beating Haq.

“The three beat my son black and blue and when I tried to [interfere], they hit me with sticks too,” the complainant said in his report. Ikram died before he could reach the hospital.

Racecourse Police Station House Office Inspector Chaudhry Jamil said initial investigations revealed that Ikram was romantically involved with the Christian girl. She lives with her uncle in Azizabad as her parents are dead.

On Wednesday night her cousin Sarfaraz found her missing. He found her at Ikram’s house. Enraged he called two of his brothers and bludgeoned Ikram to death, the SHO said. The girl was also beaten and is admitted to DHQ Hospital with multiple injuries, the SHO added.

He said a murder case had been lodged against the three suspects and they will be arrested “soon”.
