Hard area allowance: Doctors, nurses announce protest
A notification was issued in July 2007 to give hard area allowance to government employees in RY Khan and Bahawalpur.

Despite assurances from the chief minister, the hard area allowance for medical staff in Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan has yet to be approved. Doctors and nurses announced they would boycott duty from Friday (today) if the demands were not met. All Pakistan Paramedical Staff Central General Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Baddani said that a notification was issued in July 2007 to give hard area allowance to government employees in RY Khan and Bahawalpur. He said while doctors and professor above Grade 17 were getting the allowance, Grade 1 to 16 officials were not.
