Football: Jadeed leads Afghan FC to victory
Snubbed national team striker scores solitary goal in win.
KARACHI:
Recently discarded from the national team for disorderly conduct, Jadeed Khan made his presence felt in the Pakistan Premier Football League as his solitary strike gave Afghan FC a 1-0 win against PIA in Chaman.
Khan’s 58th-minute strike broke the deadlock after neither side was able to make an impression on the field.
Pakistan coach Zavisa Milosavljevic had penalised Khan, one of the top strikers in the country, and dropped him ahead of the national team’s tour of Singapore for two friendly matches. The Chaman-based player had led Pakistan in the Olympic Qualifiers against Malaysia last year.
Meanwhile, in the other match of the day, Ansar Abbas’ 17th-minute strike helped Army defeat ZTBL 1-0 at their home ground in Rawalpindi.
