According to prosecutors, Hazrat Ali Shah uttered something blasphemous against the Holy Prophet (pbuh) in March 2011 in his village of Barenis, which was testified by many villagers.
Police registered a case under Sections 295 –(a), (b) and (c) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The convicted man allegedly stood on the roof of his house and spoke loudly and inappropriately against the Prophet (pbuh) about one and a half year ago, creating a tense situation in the village, after which police arrested him and lodged a case.
Another blasphemy case in Pakistan saw Aasia Noreen, a Christian woman commonly known as Aasia Bibi, sentenced to death in November 2010.
Her appeal case is still due to be heard in the high court.

Judges will save their own life, even if they have to hanging 95% of the countries population.
@anwar: Welcome to India.
@something true: You people are sick sick sick
Richard, that may be an issue for others but it cannot be for any Muslim or for any Muslim society. We have no doubt that such a supreme being exists; that supreme being sends messages to mankind, and that last and final such message was sent to us in the form of the Holy Quran through Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After this no more messages from that Supreme Being will be coming to mankind, and no one else can claim to be a Prophet like Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to update that Message for mankind.
Other religions have done it too, but it is crazy that people are killed over superstitions. Nobody has yet to provide any proof that there is a supreme being of any sort.
how stubpid and foolish those judges and police are........ why would a sane person go on to the top of his roof and tell people to come and kill him thats totally ridiculous actuallly there is some other story behind this issue
I wonder if the said 'blasphemer' was examined by a panel of psychiatrists to know his mental conditions. Barenis, the village from where the convict hails from, is apparently a stronghold of deobandi Sunni Muslims and a any person in his sane mind can't even think of bringing any blasphemous thoughts in his mind, even if a non-Muslim, leave alone a Muslim going to his rooftop and saying offensive words against Islam. I strongly urge the Higher judiciary to take notice of the case and get him examined by a board of psychiatrists before carrying out the capital punishment.
P.S: He has been disowned by his family, apparently out a fear of a backlash from mullahs so human right organization need to pursue the case.
Don't like the law leave simple as this.
The convicted man allegedly stood on the roof of his house and spoke loudly and inappropriately against the Prophet (pbuh) about one and a half year ago, creating a tense situation in the village, after which police arrested him and lodged a case.
we should all get up on our roof (or stick our head out of our window) and yell (louder than speaking loudly) I AM SICK AND TIRED OF LIVING WITH IDIOTS WILL SOME COMPASSIONATE COUNTRY GIVE ME A GREEN CARD
Pakistan's situation today is no different from the 'dark ages' of europe where religion hand in hand with state did horrendous crimes.Infact this stituation is not limited to pakistan but the whole Islamic world which is yet to see the 'age of enlightenment'.
The jusge MUST have had no choice, with prescence of various religious bodies present in the court. If he had found the accused not guilty, he would have signed his own death warrant.
The decision to either prosecute or not should be taken away from all lower court judges, and given soully to CJ of Pakistan, or to the President. I beleive we will fianlly see an end to this stupid and mis-used law once an for all,
Religion of Piece!!!
nice ways to save your faith.....
@Hella1: So they can justify taking his possessions at some point even if he has relatives it'd go to.
After this , I can draw following conclusions.
1>Either all these followers are idiots/fools.
2>Or the person who leads is a fool.
3>Or the basic fundamental thing is Wrong and not follow-worthy.
Choose which one is true for you
@Xtreme: How do you know he went on for an hour?
Even if he did, only the most barbaric state would execute a man for saying something.
@Farhan: Agree with you 100%. But I have a question for you - if I can see it, you can see it, the whole world's media can see it, why can't your state ?
why would a man stand on top of the roof and say anything against Prophet Mohammed. either hes senile or the story is false. the judge btw is a lousy idiot.
These stupid laws encourage blasphemy in non-muslim countries as every action has equal and opposite reaction. Its really shameful that fundamentalist muslims support such inhumane laws and try to censor any criticism of Islam or the prophet.
Our courts are too scare to give verdict against the mob, therefore, all blasphemy cases should be heard by imported Judges from India and after the verdict judges should be immediately send back safely across the border.
@Acorn Guts: "Anyone knows if his mental state was considered?"
Whatever his mental state was, even if he was 100% sane, the state cannot execute a man for this.
Strange judgement. Why will this guy pay up a fine of Rs. 100,000 if he has been sentenced to death. He is going to die anyway. Can he be killed twice if he refuses to pay? Alternatively what's the point of imprisoning him in lieu of the fine, if he is to be killed anyway? Strange
Khoon ke badle khoon.
If this man is executed by the state, then the state will pay for it with its blood. Mark my words. You cannot kill a man for saying something.
If this execution goes through, Pakistanis, in my eyes will demote themselves to a level that's less than humans.
if the man has done it death is fine, if not its not ok.
We don't need to justify every thing to west, when it comes to blasphemy media try to find fault in it.
All praise to Zia-ul-Haq and his political offspring Maulvi Nawaz Sharif.
I just don't get one thing.....1400 years ago when Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) was abused by the people of taif and that jewish women, he(pbuh) still forgived them which is the greatest sign of his personality. So if someone abuses today should we be following what he did or follow what we usually do when someone abuses our families, friends etc....???. I remember when Iran had that death penalty on rushdie one of the mullahs said it was not because he abused the prophet but because he spoke "lies" about him. I don't know its food for thought.....personally I'm offended by such acts cause it strikes home.
The sentence is perfect for him if he is guilty..
Death penalty for a victimless crime?? Why is it that a country, which is so religious, is so immoral?
it is so easy to get rid of anyone i dnt like, i just gather frineds( or buy support) and go to police and say i sw this person saying bad abt the prohet and lo behold even thouse who were not in the witness come forward with statements against him and my path is cleared!! no proof is required it is just my word? how idiotic is that??
Anyone knows if his mental state was considered?
As you sow, so shall you reap. Probably the convicted should be given some chance of repentance and given to imprisonment instead.
How many are going to misuse this Man made law? How many more Innocents are going to Die No one is ever going to Help us
What is 'false accusation' here? The man went on for over an hour.. And still 'allegedly'????
Another nail in the coffin of Pakistan who still follows medieval laws. No wonder it is the laughing stock in the West.
why would he do that? No sound mind person just goes to his roof and starts shouting blasphemous things. Something fishy here
You guys have nothing to do except spreading anarchy in your own country. Shame on You Media
When you have these stupid in-human laws, the Judges cannot but follow them.
