The ministers belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Awami National Party and the National Peoples Party, who had resigned in September after the provincial assembly passed the Sindh Peoples Local Government Act, are likely to express their anger.
The act was later signed into law by Governor Ishratul Ebad, who has yet to accept the resignation of these opposition ministers. The government has also angered opposition MPAs by not allotting them separate seats in the assembly.
“We will never ever accept the new local government law, and will continue our struggle until it is repealed,” said PML-F MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi.
The agenda for the provincial assembly session includes the governor’s assent to the new local government law, the Teacher Development Authority Bill, Jinnah-Sindh Medical University (amendment) Bill and Sindh Civil Servants (amendment) Bill, among other items.
