MIRPUR: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has decided to cancel the allotment of industrial plots located in various industrial estates whose owners and/or allottees have violated prevalent rules and regulations by not setting up industrial units on allotted land within the stipulated time frame, official sources revealed.

Sources told The Express Tribune on Wednesday that a decision to this effect was taken in a recent high level meeting of the AJK Industries Department.

The department has so far cancelled the allotment of scores of industrial plots which were not used for their required purposes by allottees despite the expiry of the stipulated period.

However, when contacted, sources at the department did not unveil the exact figure of the cancelled plots.

Sources disclosed that authorities have decided to re-allot all cancelled plots in favour of fresh applicants seeking to establish industrial units in the industrial zones with a spirit to encourage future investment in the business sector in AJK and to open up new employment opportunities for job seekers in forthcoming industrial concerns.

Meanwhile, AJK authorities have advised intending entrepreneurs, including the prospective allottees of industrial plots, to ensure the construction of their industrial units within the stipulated period from the date of allotment of the plots – in line with the prevalent rules and regulations set by authorities, the sources said.
