ISLAMABAD:

Danish Ambassador Ole E Moesby said on Tuesday that Pakistan was currently ranked at seventh number in diabetic population and feared to become fourth by 2030 if preventive steps were not taken to arrest spread of the killer disease of diabetes.

According to reports, there are estimated seven million people suffering from diabetes in Pakistan, which makes the country the seventh highest population affected by diabetes in the world.

It is also estimated that by 2030, Pakistan will have the fourth largest diabetic population in the world if no effective interventions are put in place.

“These are very alarming statistics,” said the Danish ambassador during a meeting with Dr Guido Sabatinelli, Country Representative for WHO in Pakistan.
