Following its maiden triumph Asian title, Pakistan’s kabaddi team is now focusing on the World Cup scheduled to be held in India next month.
The federation has invited 28 players for a preparatory camp ahead of shortlisting the 14-man squad for the event.
“We want to carry the winning mentality into our training camp,” Pakistan coach Tahir Waheed told The Express Tribune. “The aim is to a squad which will challenge for the honours in India.”
Waheed added that it was pleasing to see Iran and Nepal doing well in the Asia Cup - Iran finished third and gave India a tough time in their match.
“Pakistanis can help teams improve in the spot if they are asked to do so. Iran’s strong performances are in front of everybody as the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Secretary Mohammad Sarwar helped them improve.”
