Council of Common Interests to meet on Monday

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani announces CCI meeting on Monday, all parties conference soon.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday announced that the meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) will be held on Monday to discuss the impact of floods.

PM Gilani also told the house that he would soon convene an all parties conference to discuss the post-flood situation.

Addressing the National Assembly, PM Gilani said the floods have affected 79 districts of the country rendering seven and a half million people homeless and some 4,000 kilometers of road networks had been inundated and the reconstruction would require billions of rupees.

He said about 4 million acres of agricultural land has been destroyed by flood waters, while the power infrastructure had also suffered losses worth billions of rupees.

He informed the National Assembly that four billion rupees have been collected through the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
