KARACHI:

Fifteen-year-old Javeria Mirza became the youngest player to win the National Scrabble Ranking Tournament after winning eight out of nine matches to clinch the title at Beach Luxury Hotel.

Javeria defeated defending champion Waseem Khatri, who finished second, while Muhammad Inshal secured third position. Javeria and Inshal along with six other players are also participating in the World Youth Team Scrabble Championship in Birmingham next month. “It was more of an intense practice session,” Mirza told The Express Tribune. “Winning the tournament and defeating Khatri is a big confidence booster for me. Defeating him is nothing less than an achievement for me.”
