Speaking to media in Islamabad, ECP Secretary Ishtiaq Khan informed that the commission has already paid Rs300 million for ballot paper printing.
He further mentioned that the ballot papers will be printed like currency notes and will have special security features to prevent duplication.
It was earlier reported that printing of ballot papers will start just 15 days before the elections as an added security measure.
According to the ECP's plan, there will be hidden features in the new ballot papers that would change regularly, making it almost impossible to print forged papers. Someone found guilty of bogus voting can be imprisoned for three years according to the law.
If it is proven that an electoral candidate is involved in the crime directly or indirectly he would only be disqualified but also banned from taking part in elections for five years.
The commission also issued a consolidated Code of Conduct for political parties and candidates during the next general elections.
Read the ECP Consolidated Code of Conduct here.

@Abdullah khan: Army is not meant for guard duties. They are operational troops and should not be asked for such clumsy duties and I am sure they will not accept it.
Great work, politicians who have done nothing for this country specially in the last 4 years should be allowed to touch the ballot paper other than their own...
It may be unconstitutional and could bring a bad name to army. They should consider refusing it.
Free and fair elections is one of the most important right of people. No one should be allowed to interfere in this process. There is to be a by-elections in PS-21 in Sindh. PPP leadership including Faryal Talpur are busy using Govt resources to influence voters in PS-21 by-polls in Sindh. Where is free Election Commission of Pakistan? PPP Govt is not being stopped from interfering into PS-21 election campaign. This is test case for ECP, if in by-elections, Govt resources and personnel cant be restricted, how can one expect fair elections in upcoming general elections.
Fakhrudin G Ibrahim is turning out to be a great disappointment. Politicians have committed numerous crimes but the awards for high treason by way of abrogation of Constitution go to Generals and Judges. First he wrote to judges to oversee the elections and now he ask Army's help. Why not just give the ballot boxes to the right-wing parties and spare us the hasstle of going to a farce poll.
I suppose the Army's role is to escort the election staff carrying ballot papers from a printing facility to a constituency. This clarification shall be noted.
Means Imran khan our next PM.
Army=angels sighs yawns
Pakistanis why are you celebrating ? Will you never learn ? Your Army has been involved in stealing all your elections. It is like asking thieves to guard the diamonds.
Yes, the army should be put to use what they are meant for. They should be used as supervisors and monitors of elections, not the ones running the elections and maintaining the results. Good going Fakhru G!
Very Good initiative - because our elections are rigged by thugs and gun totting corrupt politicians!
PLEASE PLEASE CONDUCT ELECTIONS IN KARACHI UNDER SUPERVISION OF THE ARMY... The POL PARTIES OF KARACHI DONT LET COMMON KARACHIITES TO CAST THEIR VOTE FREELY
Pakistan Army should refuse to perform this duty. It may be declared as unlawful by some Judge ten years from now. In any case transporting ballot paper has nothing to do with the defence of borders.
Perfect decision, specially for Karachities
"ISLAMABAD: Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) has decided to distribute ballot papers under Army’s supervision, Express News reported on Monday." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Army and the elections must be kept far apart. Why dont ppl understand that?
So Army is going to supervise distribution of ballot papers, as if they have never been accused of manipulating elections...o wait!
the status quo has got shivering knees!
Fantastic news ! That will make it easier for the Army to stuff the ballot boxes as needed. They will duplicate the Baig/Gul/Durrani act in a much more cost effective manner.
good going Fakhro Bhai!
