Sarabjit Singh to file fresh mercy petition: Report
According to the report, Sarabjit’s counsel Awais Sheikh met him at Kot Lakhpat jail on Saturday to have the new mercy petition filed.
In the letter addressed to the president, Sarabjit sought mercy while referring to a recent meeting between Zardari and former Indian external affairs minister SM Krishna.
“After the release of (Pakistani prisoner) Pervez Khalil Chishti by the Indian government on humanitarian grounds, the people of India, especially my family, have pinned hopes on my release on the same ground,” wrote Sarabjit as quoted by the PTI report.
Sarabjit added that such an act of forgiveness is liked in Islam and God would reward the president for such an act.
The Indian prisoner has already written two letters to the president requesting pardon, while an application has also been filed in the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of a pending petition for reopening his case.
According to prosecution, Sarabjit had illegally crossed into Pakistan from Kasur on August 29, 1990.
He was arrested on charges of conducting four bomb blasts in Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore. He is named Manjeet Singh in the FIR. He was sentenced to death.
His counsel claimed it was a case of mistaken identity.

“I went to Pakistan as a spy, I was sent by Indian army”, These are the words of Indian terrorist and spy Surjeet Singh during a press conference who suddenly got released from Pakistan by some magical powers.
During the press conference much more shocking might have been disclosed by Surjeet Singh, the officials of Indian secret agencies along with army personnel made him stand up apparently in light mood but with firm hands and then pushed a piece of sweets in his mouth to silent him. But it was late; Surjeet Singh had disclosed his reality to reveal the real face of Democratic terrorist state of India.
Who is Surjeet Singh? Why he was sentenced to death in Pakistan? Before the execution of his punishment in the name of celebrations of Benazir Bhutto’s regime all sentences of death of the prisoners were converted into life imprisonment. Thus Surjeet Singh was saved from execution as well.
If one may remember at that time many notorious murderers and criminals benefitted from Benazir’s favors avoiding the punishments awarded by law. The protest of heirs of murdered persons was not taken into account by democratic government of that time.
No the same game is being played by Zardari Govt. Since Zardari became President of Pakistan NOT a single person has been hanged in Pakistani prisons. Now there was breaking news on Pak TV channels today that Ministry of Law is drafting a bill that once approved will change death penalty punishment into life impressment. Who will be most beneficiary of this law? Off course Sarabjit Singh a convicted INDIAN TEROIST.
If our cowered gov’t releases Sarabjit Singh then he will go to Wagha and will admit the same thing “Yes I was sent to Pakistan by INDIAN gov’t to kill INOCENT Pakistanis and YES I am an INDIAN STATE SPONCERD TERORIST.
Last year when Indian Supreme Court appealed for the release of Indian Spy Gopaal Daas, some influential elements within Pakistan were willing and struggling that Gopaal Daas arrives India before Pakistani Prime Minister visits Mohali for Cricket Match.
Apparently these elements wanted that a gesture should be posed to reduce tension between both nuclear powers. The question is why such elements are present only in Pakistan who force Pakistan to bow in front of India and release even convicted Indian terrorists? Are these terrorists released to reduce tension or these elements are themselves hosting Indian terrorists???

This is a clear cut case of false implication of an innocent Indian by Pak police who crossed the border on 28 Aug 1990 whereas blasts took place in Pakistan 3 months prior to his arrest. Shaukat Saleem who was the key witness retracted from his statement on 26 Apr 2008 on tape stating that he was pressurised by the police to do so but the charges were not dropped. Nevertheless, Pakistan can still release him since he has already spent 22 years in prison as goodwill gesture.
