DERA ISMAIL KHAN/ PESHAWAR: At least one security official was injured when militants attacked a security check post in Sarwakai sub-division on Sunday, an official told The Express Tribune.

Another government source said that three militants were killed when security forces retaliated. Their bodies were shifted to Tanai Scouts Fort and later to the Wana Scouts Camp, South Waziristan.

The Sarwakai sub-division has been under the control of security forces since Operation Rah-e-Nijat was launched against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in 2009. No one had claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack till this report was filed.

IED attack kills one

In another incident, a remote-controlled bomb went off in Boya village in Miranshah, North Waziristan, killing one civilian and injuring four others, officials said.

The bomb was planted in front of a wholesale shop. The injured were rushed to the Miranshah Headquarters Hospital.

Rockets defused

The bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused three RPG-7 rounds in the suburban Jagra village, which falls in the jurisdiction of the Chamkani police station.

Unidentified people had thrown three rocket shells in a bag along the main GT Road. The police were informed about the presence of a suspicious bag and rushed to the site and called the BDS.

The police said that this was an attempt to create panic among residents.
