Football: FIFPro against union for black players

Union Fifpro is 100% against a separate union for black players as it would be insensible, said the head of the world players’ union. Even though the Society of Black Lawyers stated that they were building up talks to start a union for black players, secretary general of Fifpro Theo van Seggelen shared different thoughts, according to the BBC. “We respect the player in the English third division, as much as the player from China or from Congo,” said Seggelen. “It doesn’t make sense to have unions for black players. Our philosophy is equal rights for players and on a global level that is not easy. We don’t need to separate the players when the whole focus and goal of anti-racism is to campaign for unity.”
