Firing incidents claim 15 lives in parts of Karachi
On Saturday evening, eight people were gunned down in two separate incidents which took place within half an hour.
Five madrassa students were killed and two injured in firing incident near a hotel in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 2 area. The bodies have been shifted to the Jinnah hospital.
Two others were killed near Saifee College in the North Nazimabad area Block F. In the same area, another man was killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire at him.
Earlier during the day, a man named Mashooq was shot dead in Korangi no. 6 area, while another man named Talha sustained injuries in the incident. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Akhtar Hussain, a resident of the Jumma Goth area of Korangi, was gunned down by unknown men.
Ameen, who received injuries in a firing incident late Friday night, succumbed to his injuries today.
A late night feud between two groups in the Golimar area claimed four lives. According to police, the two groups fought among themselves over resolving a issue pertaining to ending gang war from the Rexer Line area.
The men, identified as Sajid, Babar, Shahid and Munawwar, died on the spot.
Following the killings, an angered mob staged protest at Nazimabad Chowrangi and set alight a water tanker.
Traders and industrialists have demanded for army to be deployed in Karachi to provide security.
Earlier, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, gave details regarding violence in Karachi to the National Assembly and said that a total of 1,363 people have lost their lives at the hands of target killers during the past five years.
Giving a breakdown of the figure, Malik had said that 104 people had been killed in year 2008, 160 in 2009, 373 in 2010, 478 in 2011 and 248 so far in 2012.

Agreed. Very right though. But I believe you've got the info 'slightly' mixed up. Surely, everything that you've cited is no-doubt pretty much true. My reason for the comparison was that it wasn't any fault of 'Malala's' nor of all the 'people' who have had & are being mercilessly targetted. They're all happen to be a part of a same nation. Don't you think? Moreover, the actual people who are being compelled to take the lethal move is all due to the drones that are 24/7 hovering on their heads until they unleash deadly hellfire. The 'Malala' incident was surely & very rightly brutal yet it was a blunder & duly un-intented. As per I believe. & again v. rightly pointed the 'govt' stands the criminal in every aspect.
Malala and Karachi and Citizens of Karachi both are part of Pakistan, people are continuously neglecting the issues and increasing crime rate in Karachi. First they close main traffic route of people here in the name of IDEAS 2012 and then all the security forces are assigned there to help VVIP. Every day we face a traffic jam out here and every day 15 to 20 people loses their lives and still people are busy in celebrating Malala Day, but nobody is talking about humanity and what real Islam is, Killing innocent people? and you have the power to stop it but still you are silent. If this will not stop today then i can see a civil war here in Karachi soon. Every one knows that there is no one with the name of Aliens and ET here in Karachi, this is nothing more than a political war.

Malala issue is being highlighted serving its purpose, showing the world what these animals are capable of, propagating more hatred for these barbarians. target killing steams out of other reasons. that's why it is a separate issue. it should be given its due importance, but why compare the 2. and if target killings is highlighted than someone will complain, oh they just care about karachiietes, what about people dying from drone attacks. aren't they a part of Pakistan. kissi haal main khush nahin hain hum log!
@saeed: do not try to justify violence.............learn to accept it and fight against it......ur justification leaves 15 people dead in a day......and this happens everyday in karachi....this doesn't happen in new york and chicago....go convince ur self by taking example of mogadishu or baghdad..............

There is no value of human lives in Karachi/Pakistan comparing to the Western Countries where the Govrnments not only do care about the humans but people also take care of the animals.
I leave up to the valued readers of the columns to determine whether the system running in Pakistan is better comparing to the system which is running in the Western Countries?
In big city murder is way of life, even in new york or chicago. I lived in Karachi and many million like me who want to live decent life can lived nice life. People still make good living, if they live with there limit small family and education. Big family with limited resources the highlights of all trouble.it is mistake of family not goverment.

Separate issue?? What makes her different than all the others who have lost their lives if not today then since the Malala incident. Though, We`re very glad she made a quick and a satisfying recovery but still what about the others who happen to have left us today...??
