PCB bars Yousuf, Afridi from playing President’s Trophy
Players submitted names too late for President's Trophy, but can play in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, rules PCB.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has barred Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi from participating in the ongoing President’s Cricket Trophy, reported Express News on Friday.
The players were not given permission to play as they had submitted their names too late to the selection committee. However, the players can participate in the upcoming Quaid-e-Azam trophy, the PCB ruled.
Yousuf had requested to play the President’s Trophy from the Port Qasim team, and Afridi wanted to represent the Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) team in an effort to regain his form by playing domestic cricket.
On Wednesday, Yousuf had expressed his disappointment over the PCB not allowing him to participate in the domestic series after it was revealed that he was not included in the list provided to the PCB by all departments before the cup commenced.
“On one hand, the PCB tells me to prove my form and fitness in the domestic cricket, however on the other hand they do not allow me to do so,” he told a private television channel.
