KARACHI:

After the country’s number one player Aamir Atlas Khan lost in the qualifiers, Pakistan’s duo Yasir Butt and Aurangzeb Mehmund lost their first-round matches of the PSA International 35 EBS Dayton Open yesterday in Ohio, US.

The Lahore-born Butt failed to repeat his gutsy performance and lost to Australia’s Ryan Cuskelly 11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6. The clash between youngsters Mehmund and Egypt’s Marwan El Shorbagy turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Egyptian raced to an easy win in just over half-an-hour. Shorbagy
won 11-5, 11-8 and 11-7 against Mehmund, who, like Butt, is plying his trade in the US due to indifferences with the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF).
