Anchorperson Muhammad Malick’s talk show on Dunya News “Dunya @ 8 with Malick” will be taken off air from next week, reported JournalismPakistan.com on Wednesday.

The former Islamabad resident editor of The News made the announcement during his show on Tuesday and said that the reason that the show was being discontinued was that the Dunya Group was planning on launching an English language daily.

Malick is also the Group Editor Publications-English at Dunya Group, which also launched an Urdu newspaper in September. He had joined the group in July.

JournalismPakistan.com quoted sources as saying that ratings of Malick’s programme were not growing and that the 8pm slot he was given will likely to go to Sana Bucha, who recently joined Dunya News after quitting Geo.

Bucha had resigned from Geo over differences with the channel’s management.

Bucha had earlier resigned in July this year purportedly in protest of Geo’s rehiring of Dr Aamir Liaquat. She was, however, persuaded to stay back.

Explaining the latest departure, the TV anchor tweeted saying she has left “Geo because of Geo, not for any other channel.”
