In the song “Radha” from Karan Johar’s latest film Student of the Year, the crew took the stage and made the song a raging success as newcomers Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt ensured the number stays at the top of the charts. But unfortunately, a criminal case has been filed against the Bollywood director, producer Gauri Khan and others for allegedly offending the religious feelings of people by referring to the mythological figure Radha as sexy in a song.
The Indore police lodged the case in compliance with a magisterial court’s order on a private complaint by an NGO, Shrivision Social Empowerment and Welfare Association. The NGO had approached the court with a private complaint last month, alleging that the song in the film refers to the mythological figure Radha as sexy.
Last month, the magistrate ordered the registration of an FIR, the organisation’s spokesperson said. Superintendent of Police OP Tripathi told the Press Trust of India that an FIR was lodged Monday night under section 295 (A) (hurting religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code.
