HYDERABAD: Two people were killed and three injured, including two activists of Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat (ASWJ), in separate firing incidents in Hyderabad on Tuesday, reported Express News.

Abdul Rehman Khan was injured when gunmen on a motorcycle came to a hotel and shot at him after identifying him, said eyewitnesses. He was shifted to the Civil hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident took place in the Hatri Police Station jurisdiction.

DIG Hyderabad Sanaullah said that Abdul Rehman belonged to Mohmand Agency and it is being investigated whether he had any personal enmity with anyone.

In another incident, a man identified as Munawar Raja was shot at by two gunmen near the police central office when he was at a shop getting his car fixed. He passed away before he could be taken to a hospital.

Later during the day, gunmen opened fire on an ASWJ rally passing through the Hatri bypass area, leaving two activists, identified as Naeem and Yousuf, injured. A girl was also injured in the incident.

The ASWJ workers said that they had identified the assailants but the police were reluctant to take any action.

The DIG said that the firing incidents seem to be a part of target killings, and some suspects have been arrested with the help of security agencies.

In the past three days, at least eight people have been killed in various firing incidents in the city.
