ISLAMABAD:

Pakistani students fluent in Portuguese have a great opportunity to avail many scholarships which were recently announced by the Brazilian Government.

This was said by Gustavo Meira Carneiro, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Brazil, on Monday during a visit to the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), where he met with NUML Director General Azam Jamal and other university officials.

He told the NUML head that the purpose of his visit was to discuss the modalities for the establishment of a Portuguese language department at National University of Modern Languages.

He said Brazilian Ambassador Alfredo Leoni has a great desire that the department be set up so that Pakistani students have a chance to learn Portuguese, as all Pakistanis who want study, work or residence visas will be required to learn the language first.

Brig Jamal said the establishment of a Portuguese Language Department will help Pakistanis learn about Brazil and its growing economy.
