SUKKUR:

Three people were killed in a clash between two groups of the Lakhan tribe in Chutal Lakhan village in the limits of Tamachani police station near Sukkur.

The incident occurred when armed men opened fire on some members of the Lakhan tribe who were working in the fields. The villagers retaliated and a gun fight between the two groups broke out. Nangar Lakhan, Mohammad Hashim Lakhan and Wahid Bux Lakhan were killed on the spot, but the assailants escaped.

Tamachani SHO Abdul Hameed Shaikh told The Express Tribune that these two groups have had a dispute for over 40 years, which was caused due to the suspected murder of a woman. “Some of the people in the area claim that she was killed over karo-kari, others say that she was killed by thieves,” said Shaikh. He added that Lakhan elders tried to resolve the matter many times but failed.
