ABBOTABAD:

Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) Director General Dildar Muhammad Danish and four of his subordinates have been suspended for misuse of authority, officials of the local government said on Monday.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) secretary local government suspended GDA director general, tax collectors Muhammad Shaukat and Shaukat Iqbal and Building Inspector Wasif Mir for allowing construction of concrete structures on a green area in Nathiagali, officials said. Five commercial plots near Governor House Nathiagali measuring 400 square feet each were allotted by the GDA under the agreement that only wooden structures will be built on the plots.

However, the parties to whom the plots were allotted started constructing concrete structures on the area.

When the issue was highlighted in the press, the  secretary ordered an inquiry into the matter and suspended the officials after they were found “overstepping their powers”.

Danish has been repatriated to Peshawar as an officer on special duty, while Shangla District Officer Revenue Musthaq Ahmed has been appointed as the acting director general of GDA.
