Sources in parliament say that the sessions of the National Assembly and Senate will begin discussion on various vital issues including the apex court’s recent orders in a number of cases – namely the Asghar Khan case, the Taliban influx in Karachi, and Balochistan’s law and order situation.
It will also discuss matters related to the new interim set-up for holding general elections next year.
In the meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the largest opposition in the National Assembly, is expected to launch protests in both the sessions against the government’s failure to maintain law and order in Balochistan and Karachi.
PML-N Information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan said that his party will put forward its demand for early elections once again, especially after the Balochistan Assembly lost its moral authority in the wake of the apex court’s ruling last month.
Similarly, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Awami National Party – allies of the government in both houses – are expected to raise their voices against the recent hike in petroleum prices.
