QUETTA: Announcing a public campaign against the Balochistan government following the interim orders of the Supreme Court on the law and order situation in the province, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has started consulting other political parties in this regard.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, JI’s provincial amir Abdul Matin Akhundzada said that after the apex court’s interim order, Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani and the provincial cabinet had lost their status.

Thus, elections should be conducted in Balochistan within 90 days as the constitution allowed for such a move, Akhundzada added. He said that the Balochistan government had allegedly committed corruption in several projects.

He also called for transparent elections to be held in Balochistan and asked the Election Commission to play its due role regarding this.
