The application filed on Saturday stated that Nawaz was responsible for the extra-judicial killing of MQM workers in Karachi during the 1992 operation.
The petition further added that the PML chief had assets abroad and that he was a loan defaulter.
Earlier Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had also requested the Election Commission of Pakistan to disqualify the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader, saying that Nawaz was the ‘brainchild of dictatorship’ and his propaganda and conspiracies against the present government have failed.
Memon said that the Asghar Khan case has revealed Nawaz Sharif’s true nature.

cj shud call nawaz sharif for fair trial to expose them as they play with the setiments of the whole nation
Dark days and rainy days, what is the difference in between.
perhaps coundown has begun.
In a democratic elected govt. it is considered to be a right to file a case against any citizen of the country by another citizen as MQM has thoughtfully acted on considering the current scenario. Now its for the courts to decide(instead of lame, mis-guided common man judgements) to the wrath of Nawaz Sharif and allegations on him. Nawaz has been a twisted politician ever since and knows hows to weasel out of political complications. This allegation, however, is a strong pack to gutter down without burning his throat as it is widely known what cruelties were enshrined in Nawaz's political era, especially, discriminating against non-punjabi speaking majorities in Pakistan. He has been a sly one to pocket black coats since the start of current govt. If he still has them on his payroll it maybe worth feeding them now.
PML-N cannot show majority in National Assembly after elections if MQM is not with them... Looks like PML-N will become even more smaller party restricted in urban Punjab
@Jawed: @Javed Afridi: Frankly, it does not make any sense in blaming Muttaheda and expunge all others from any blame of wrongdoing. The fight is for Islamabad and Karachi Shareef where the pickings lie. Distortion of facts and making black into white and vice versa is an age-old function.
No political body in Pakistan is free from guilt and the combine of mullahs, orthodox minded and feudal politicians has pluralized the different segments of society.
Tell me, if Muttaheda brought life to the development of Karachi and Hyderabad and NS who developed Lahore and its suburbs, where is the development in other parts of Pakistan that benefit the common citizen?
Still more needs to be done. Salams
I think there were many extra judicial encounters where criminals Tobe and many innocent were also killed during the present government in Punjab. Both brothers and Law Minister should also be disqualified and cases initiated. It is true that apart from PML-N leadership there are many legislators of other parties who have undeclared assets abroad so all should come under the sword of the Law.
@Iqbal: Kindly dont misguide the public with your lies. It was Musharraf a Military chief and a Darling of MQM who ordered Pakistani Army to go for Kargil war and then he begged Nawaz Sharif to visit America to beg for ceasefire but since MQM supporters are masters of manipulation so you are manipulating the facts here. A civilian administrator has no power in front of a military chief but your biased thinking can only have a partisan approach in this matter.
This is not the way to deal with the political opponents.
If Supreme Court is going to declare Mian Nawaz Sharif ineligible from contesting upcoming elections than every Tom, Dick and Harry is going to file a petition in the Supreme Court against his or her political opponent ineligible.
Let me remind the readers of these valued columns that the political scenario in the country is about to be changed in the next general elections and there is a very strong chance that Mian Nawaz Sharif may become the Prime Minister for the third time after getting over the bottlenecks from the parliament.
MQM has been holding Nawaz Sharif responsible for the murder of their 15,000 workers(even though correct and actual Statistics have yet to be verified) for the past few years. Then why did they enter the coalition once again in 1997?Plus,Mustafa Kamal himself talked about Nawaz Sharif apologizing to Altaf Hussain in London afterwards saying that he was helpless infront of "someone else". Moreover, operation indeed began during Nawaz's first tenure as the PM but his government came to an abrupt end the very next year. I am not defending NS but death tolls in Karachi during 1990s were higher during (Late) Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. So how come NS now gets all the blame? And now this new drama when PML-N and Sharif Family have already got into hot water by continuous war of words with PTI and PPP and ultimately due to findings from Asghar Khan case. I bet if PML-N becomes history and MQM continues to stay on the scene, then few years down the road they'll claim that it was them alone who helped the nation getting rid off Nawaz Sharif and his wicked politics,as tampering with facts is not something that MQM doesn't know.
The application filed should also include Nawaz's failed mischief of Kargil which brought his own downfall. He lied to the the world that the Kargil conflict was undertaken by Kashmiri militants but in fact he had ordered which resulted in the death of over 4000 soldiers.
