Theft suspicion: Teacher blackens student’s face

BAHAWALPUR: A student of Grade 6 was allegedly beaten with a bat and his face blackened on Friday by a teacher and the school owner’s son. Muhammad Shoaib, a resident of resident of Mangwani village, told police that his son, Muhammad Hassan, was enrolled in a private school. He said the school owners’ son, Muhammad Hanif, had on Friday accused Hassan of stealing the wallet of a teacher, Saleem. He said Hassan denied the accusation but brought a bat and started beating him. He said Saleem and Farhan, also a teacher, had aided Hanif. Shoaib said Hassan’s face was painted black and he was paraded around the school. He said students Muhammad Munir and Muhammad Riaz had finally rescued Hassan. Abbas Nagar SHO Shams Khan said an investigation was underway.
