Social responsibility: Warid supports healthcare initiatives

Warid Telecom collected funds of Rs1.3 million through SMS donations for breast cancer awareness.

LAHORE: In an effort to contribute and mark October as breast cancer awareness month, Warid Telecom collected funds of Rs1.3 million through SMS donations for breast cancer awareness in the month and before it for Zakat campaign for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust during Ramazan, says a press release. Along with circulation of awareness messages to its subscribers, Warid says its employees at business centres in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi distributed awareness material on the life-threatening cancer and the importance of its early diagnosis. “Battling cancer is the most distressing experience for a  woman and her family. Unfortunately, Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer for any Asian population in the world and we are pleased to support a cause which increases awareness and supports efforts to develop a cure for this disease,” said Sadaf Zarrar, Director Marketing Communication of Warid Telecom.
