ISLAMABAD: A government spokesman has taken serious exception to the alleged misreporting of Cabinet proceedings, contrary to the briefing by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on October 31.  Kaira had categorically stated that election laws were not discussed but the spokesman says some newspapers chose to report it as if they were. No minister quarreled or exchanged harsh words, according to the spokesman. On the contrary, the prime minister appreciated the efforts of the finance minister and his economic team. The spokesman went on to say that while the government respects the freedom of press, it also expects the press to display a sense of responsibility and accord due coverage to the government’s point of view as an obligation towards its readers.
