‘Blasphemy’, vandalism: Committee formed to probe incident, identify culprits
Administrative control of school given to city district government.

Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik on Thursday set up an inquiry committee to probe the matter of alleged distribution of blasphemous material among students at a private school in Karim Park, Ravi Road. Members of the national and provincial assemblies, some local ulemas and superintendent of police (security) comprise the committee. It will submit its report to the commissioner in a few days.
Presiding a meeting held to discuss the distribution of content and the reaction that followed on Wednesday, when parents and ulemas vandalised the school building, the commissioner gave the administrative control of the school to the city district government.
The additional commissioner general was appointed as the administrator. The meeting was told that the committee will also identify the people involved in vandalising the school building and deal with them according to the law. MNA Mian Marghoob Ahmed, MPAs Muhammad Ajasam Sharif and Khwaja Imran Nazir, EDO (Education) Pervaiz Akhtar, SP (Security) Abdul Ghaffar, Pakistan Sunni Tehreek President Abdul Rasool Khan and Sunni Tehreek members Abid Hussain, Qari Muhammad Rafique, Qari Muhammad Irfan Leghari, Chaudhry M Ilyas and Muhammad Arshad were also present.
