Talking to The Express Tribune, a security forces official said that, around 4:30pm, two fighter jets dropped bombs on militant hideouts in the remote area of Koki Khel, killing the militants.
“Four militant trenches were also destroyed in the pounding,” the official claimed.
The official added that the area was occupied by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters.
Earlier on October 18, five militants were killed and several hideouts of Lashkar-e-Islam (LI), led by Mangal Bagh and TTP, were destroyed when gunship helicopters and jet fighters pounded the trenches in Akka Khel area of the valley.
A strategically important area, Tirah Valley borders Afghanistan and also connects to Bara, which then leads on to Peshawar. The valley has been under the influence of various militant factions, including Lashkar-e-Islam (LI), TTP, and Ansarul Islam, who constantly target each other over territorial disputes and sectarian differences, while the residents of the valley have limited contact with the outside world.

Waiting for the Great Kaptan and his Twitter & Facebook storm-troopers to decry and bemoan the fact that the PAF is doing exactly what it is supposed to do - defend the nation against all enemies - foreign and internal.
So these fighter bombers are more accurate than the US drones and only kill militant and never ever any innocent people! Maybe the Americans should use their fighter jets and heave bombs instead of drones.
@Soh: Doesnt matter where these jets came from Really? I suggest you start reading Western press and you will note that their patience is running very thin with Pakistan. PAF will collapse without US support. The taliban still think that wars should be fought like how they used to do in the 7th century - through camels, horses and bows and arrows.
@tight patloon. Atleast there is a step being taken! Guys stop being haters and support your nation! Know who the real enemy is and the people who have disgraces our country! And about the drones it was a shame that the americans had to do it for is. This is our problem and we need to face it united.
Iqbal now you can enjoy because tight patloon is no more tight . It can be easily ....
Kudos to the air force -- if you have Billions tied up in high tech aircraft you might as well be using it.
Hit them harder - they only understand the language of stick. Hit them so hard and so completely that it demoralizes them and brings them to the table. Take a page from the playbook of how Sri-Lanka dealt with Tamils.
Doesnt matter where these jets came from. The civilians, if any present there, should not be aiding Taliban in any circumstances. They should know by now, of the Drone attacks. Therefore if any civilians died, it was their own choosing. Also, about time Pakistan started to act. Though I am sure that the US presidential election may be the one of the moving factors
I agree with your comments. Pakistan appears to have developed indigenous smart bomb technology which only goes after the terrorists and kill them and which even out-smarts the American drones. Though thousands of terrorists have been killed in aerial bombardment but how these jihadis still manage to come back from their graves needs to be investigated.
@Iqbal - If the Chinese can copy Ipads for 100 USD then I dont think its a big deal for them to copy F-16 parts. If they work, well thats another debate.
Thx TP
What have things come to? A country has to send fighter aircraft to bomb their own people within their own territory. I have little sympathy for the jihadists but being forced to use weapons and the war machine meant for external treats on one's own territory and people speaks of how bad the situation is that the government (or establishment) of the day couldn't muster any other option.
Makes me wonder if we crossed a line somewhere back there...
Must be the “bad” Taliban not wiling to with the establishment.
@TightPatloon: These are the same jets supplied by the Americans who the vast majority of Pakistanis despise. They should realise that once the patience of the Americans snaps thay will stop all spare parts and maintenance of these aircrafts and they will all be museum items. They will ofcourse be under the illusion that the Chinese will supply them.
If these fighter jets could do it now why can't they do this on regular basis and instead let US drones do it for them? If the Pakistani government (actually the army) had the will it could get rid of terrorists once and for all. It seems it does not have the spine and enjoys the continued downfall of Pakistan. Our neighbours are miles ahead of us.
So the bombs used by PAF are some special kind of smart bombs that kill only terrorists and no civilian is killed? Why not fit these on the drones and then all problem will be solved.
