KARACHI: Police claimed to have rescued a young man, Omair, from his kidnappers after an encounter on Wednesday.

SHO Raja Tariq said the kidnapper, Kamran alias Chilli, was arrested who revealed that he was part of a dacoit gang. According to the accused, Omair was also a member of the group but committed fraud by not sharing looted money after which the gang decided to kill him.

SHO Tariq said that Omair, whose hands and legs were tied with a rope when he was found, lives in North Nazimabad and worked in car rentals. Police suspected Omair of carrying out robberies but did not find a criminal record. During the encounter, three of Kamran’s companions reportedly managed to escape.
