A DSP among other policemen was targeted by unidentified men in Bannu district at around 11.45pm on Tuesday night.
Azmat Ali is the DSP for the Ghurewala Circle of the district. An official of the Ghurewala police station said that the police officials were on their routine patrol in Mandohree Pattal Shah area, nearly eight kilometres East of Bannu city, when the accused assailants hiding close to the road opened fire at them. Fortunately, the bullets missed the officials and only their vehicle was damaged.
The police returned fire, after which the assailants escaped.
Ali lodged an FIR at the police station following which a search operation was started. No one has been arrested so far.
