Three die in separate incidents in Hazara

Man murdered for ‘honour’; child drowns; man commits suicide.

Two people were killed and another committed suicide in separate incidents in the Hazara belt on Tuesday.


A poultry farmer was murdered for ‘honour’ near an Afghan Refugee Camp in Mansehra. Police said that Muhammad Ishaq, 30, a resident of Boee village who ran a poultry farm near the camp, was allegedly having an affair with an Afghan woman. The woman’s husband, Gul Khan Madakhel, got infuriated after he saw them both chatting and shot at them using a 30-bore pistol. Ishaq was killed in the firing while the woman managed to escape.

In the second incident, a two-year-old child drowned after he fell in an underground water tank in Khalabat Township. Police and family members said that Abdullah, son of Akhtar Nawaz, was playing in the courtyard of his house when he accidentally slipped and fell into the water tank. The body was recovered by family members.

Meanwhile, a young man committed suicide in Baffa union council. Police said that Ghulam Mustafa, 26, locked himself in his bedroom and shot a bullet in his temple using a pistol. He was found dead by family members when they went to call him out for breakfast, police added. Family member said that Mustafa was jobless for the last several months and was also having marital problems.
