Fashion Police: No points for blahness

We are not too happy with the look Kat Graham chose for the 2012 Environmental Media Awards.

“The Vampire Diaries” star Kat Graham is a beauty irrespective of what she wears. But this time, we are not too happy with the look she chose for the 2012 Environmental Media Awards.

Kat should know that simply wearing a fun outfit doesn’t earn one automatic points on our style-o-metre — accessories and personal touches is what we’re crazy about!

Hair

The starlet wore her chocolate brown hair down in soft waves. We wish she would have put some more effort into her hair, like adding volume with curls or something funkier like twisting her bangs and pinning them to a side.

Make-up

The Swiss-born American actor kept her make-up simple but highlighted her eyes with slightly intense smoky eye make-up, which we loved. Unfortunately, the blush and nude lip shade were way too bland for our liking. Ever heard of candy colours? They would look gorgeous against her olive skin!

Outfit

Kat sported a nude, long-sleeve, knee length, cut-out dress from the Hussein Chalayan collection featuring a huge, body-fitting, silver metallic patch peaking through the cut. The dress is funky and different, but isn’t doing wonders for her on its own.

Accessories

The 23-year-old model-singer did not bother wearing any accessories to jazz up her outfit, except for a pair of tiny pink earrings which were better off with anything but this dress. Lesson for the future: whenever you wear something in nude colours, pair it up with a funky belt or jewellery. A silver chain belt would have done wonders with this dress, along with some classy silver drop earrings and bracelets.

Shoes

She finished off her look with a pair of high pink heels. Oh Kat, why did you go from boring to unpleasant with these mismatched heels? A pair of silver heels or nude suede pumps would have been a smart choice.

Wore it better

Bella Thorne

The stunning American diva looked fabulous in a short embroidered tulle-detailed dress with a sheer mesh yoke and paired it up with nude platform pumps. As for the jewellery, she pepped up her look with this green floral statement necklace and tiny hoop earrings. The gorgeous beauty opted for glowing make-up and pink pout with side twisted bun and funky nail art. She scores a full 10 on our style-o-meter!

Miranda Lambert

Country singer Miranda Lambert was spotted in a custom-made nude tulle cap sleeved evening gown in embellished lace by Pivoni at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Miranda wore her tresses in curls and opted for silver drop earrings, a Nordstrom ‘All Around’ Bracelet and a Jimmy Choo ‘Ubai’ clutch. Way to go girl!

Vanessa Hudgens

The 19-year-old High School Musical starlet looked fabulous in a silver and nude mini dress and Jimmy Choo Etta Sandals at US Weekly‘s Hot Hollywood Party. She jazzed up her outfit with a funky bun with loose strands of hair brushing her pink cheeks, silver bracelets and a pair of silver sandals. She kept her lips subtle but highlighted her cheeks with pink blush on and put on black nail colour. Two thumbs up!
